Patricia Carney, APRN

Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, I worked in the professional theatre and dance world in a variety of venues from Los Angeles to New York City. Holding a BFA in Theatre and a MFA in Dance, I have taught for numerous universities and professional dance companies across the United States and in Europe. My choreography has won awards and has been highlighted on television, stage, and screen.

Changing Careers

While working in New York, I had the honor to know and care for a very special person during their fight with a terminal illness. I found new meaning to what “living” meant; I wanted to give back and help people. I had my 15 minutes of fame and now it was my turn to “pay it forward.” I returned to Los Angeles, enrolled in nursing school and set forth to become a Nurse Practitioner.

Experience:

Upon graduating as an RN, I worked in the Med/Surg/Telemetry unit. But, my love for OB/GYN was sparked when I took a job at a Beverly Hills Birthing Center. Working with the CNM’s was exciting as I assisted with natural childbirth, water births, and mom-baby visits! I knew I wanted to be a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner. In 2000 that dream came true!

For over 13 years I have practiced in OB/GYN as a Nurse Practitioner. I earned my MSN in 2003 and have since been on the clinical nursing faculty for UCLA, Cal State-Long Beach, Cal State-Dominguez Hills, and Harbor-UCLA’s Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner Program. In addition, under the guidance of Dr. Siri Kjos, I have taught the Harbor-UCLA OB 1st and 2nd year residents low risk OB for 8 years.

Special Teaching Experiences:

In 2005, I had the opportunity to work in Al Ain, UAE as the Outpatient Clinic Manager/Nurse Practitioner. Running the Urgent Care 24/7 and 5 other specialty clinics proved challenging as I learned and worked with a multicultural staff. This experience opened my eyes to international health care and paved the way for additional teaching experiences not only in the UAE but also in India, Oman, and Egypt.

Sonia Ceballos, MD

Dr. Ceballos approaches medicine with a unique perspective that began when she was a child. Growing up in a family that was focused on community, she was taught that the best way to give back to her community was through healthcare.

Nathaniel Klein, MD

Provider

Dr. Klein grew up in a small country town in Michigan before attending Michigan State University, where he double majored in human physiology and nutrition. He then continued his education at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, where he received his Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a research certificate for clinical sciences.

Dr. Klein then went on to obtain his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School, completing his OB/GYN residency at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago. While in residency, he served as the chief resident as well as the administrative chief.

During his residency, Dr. Klein helped develop a new GYN training curriculum with an emphasis on simulation training regarding robotic and laparoscopic surgical techniques while integrating the latest minimally invasive surgery research. He developed a passion for treating patients with chronic pelvic pain, especially related to endometriosis, as he found this patient population to be dramatically underserved and often times inadequately managed.

He strives to make his patients feel comfortable and well-cared for and believes that the best way to do that is to listen to patients’ concerns or worries so they can work together to find a personalized treatment plan. In addition to his fellowship, Dr. Klein is pursuing a Master of Business Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Lee Business School.

When he is not in clinic, Dr. Klein enjoys doing all things outdoors and eating good food. He is licensed in Nevada, California, and Washington.
